Bournemouth plan move for Liverpool defender

Bournemouth will reportedly seek to discuss a transfer agreement for Liverpool misfit  Joe Gomez when the transfer window reopens in July.

  • The 19-year-old has been starved off first-team opportunities this season following his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Gomez has just three FA Cup appearances to his name all campaign, and he could consider his Anfield future despite signing a long-term deal earlier in the year.

According to The Sun, Cherries coach Eddie Howe will look to lure the versatile defender from Anfield this summer with the promise of offering him a regular run in the starting lineup.

The South Coast could offer a sum of around £10m with a sell-back clause or pursue the English defender on a season-long loan.

Bournemouth had utilised the services of Chelsea ace Nathan Ake to good effect on loan earlier in the season before the Blues recalled their player.

The club have since struggled to find the solidity at the back, and they are hopeful of recruiting a young defender capable of making his mark.

Bournemouth have had a good association with Liverpool in the recent past after having brought the likes of Jordan Ibe and Brad Smith to Dean Court last summer.
