Perez wants Arsenal exit

Arsenal forward in line for Spain return?

01 June 2017 - 05:39

Arsenal forward Lucas Perez could be heading for a swift return to Deportivo La Coruna following a frustrating debut campaign in the Premier League.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The 28-year-old managed just two league starts over the course of the season, and he is now said to be eyeing a home return as he looks to revive his World Cup ambitions.

Arsene Wenger's side had paid up a fee of around £17.5m in order to trigger his release clause in 2016 and Depor are prepared to cough up the same fee to retain Perez's services.

Perez made his mark with Depor during the 2015/16 season as he bagged 17 goals to help them avoid La Liga relegation.

However, he has simply failed to earn his opportunities in the Gunners' shirt with Wenger himself feeling 'sorry' for the striker, who had played second fiddle to the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in the final stages of the season.

Despite earning just two starts in the league campaign, Perez managed to make a decent impression at the club contributing seven goals and five assists in 21 appearances.
