Olivier Giroud fires warning at Arsene Wenger

Giroud hints at Gunners exit

Olivier Giroud fires warning at Arsene Wenger

07 June 2017 - 09:23

France international Olivier Giroud has hinted that he could end his five-year association with Arsenal, should he fail to receive assurances of a regular role in the starting lineup.

  • Arsenal linked with new shotstopper as backup to Raya
  • Juventus and Roma to battle for 20yo Arsenal star

  • The 30-year-old, who inked a contract extension in January, was often left frustrated on the substitutes' bench last season, only to come and provide a vital goal/assist for the club.

Giroud bagged his first-ever France hattrick in the 5-0 win over Paraguay last week and this put him in the record books as he bet a similar feat achieved by David Trezeguet way back in 2000.

The Frenchman has received plenty of plaudits from Didier Deschamps and fellow teammate Antoine Griezmann, who feels that Giroud can lead the nation to World Cup success.

Giroud managed to bag 16 goals for the Gunners despite his limited game time last term, and he has fired a warning at Wenger that he could leave this summer, should his position remain the same.

"Wenger is counting on me even though he hasn't used me much," he told The Mail. "I won't settle for such limited playing time."

Marseille are currently monitoring the situation of both Laurent Koscielny and Giroud, and they look likelier to make a bid for the latter during this summer's transfer window.
