New Watford boss eyes up Markovic move

17 June 2017 - 03:01

Lazar Markovic, who has struggled to break into the Liverpool squad since his move from Benfica, is a target for fellow Premier League side Watford.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Markovic was on loan at Hull City last season, where he worked under the management of Marco Silva. The Portuguese manager is now in charge of Watford and is keen to sign the Serbian on a permanent deal.

The Times reports that Silva was impressed with what he saw from Markovic last season, leading him to see this as the ideal addition for The Hornets' squad this summer.

Despite things not working out at Anfield, it is believed that Liverpool are looking for a fee of £20 million to allow the winger to leave, as Jurgen Klopp looks to raise additional funds for summer signings.

Mamadou Sakho and Alberto Moreno are also players that Klopp will look to move on from the club after being deemed surplus to requirements ahead of the new season.

Along with Watford, Russian club Zenit St Petersburg and a number of Portuguese clubs are said to be monitoring the situation closely, with the view to making an offer in the near future.
