Thibaut Courtois stalling on Chelsea deal

Courtois wants to be on par with Chelsea's highest earners

Thibaut Courtois stalling on Chelsea deal

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is apparently stalling on negotiations over a fresh Chelsea contract as he waits upon the club's pursuit of Romelu Lukaku.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The west London giants were initially expected to extend Courtois' contract beyond the summer of 2019, but talks over a fresh deal are yet to progress.

According to The Sun, Courtois will look into the salary structure of the club's top earners before deciding on his Stamford Bridge future.

Courtois is currently assessing foreign offers during the season-break, but he still remains committed to Antonio Conte's side, who lifted the Premier League crown last term.

Lukaku remains the number one striker target for the Blues, and it is reported that he would receive wages of around £200,000 a week, should he make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Courtois has two years left on his £80,000 a week contract, and he would feel unjustified if he does not earn a similar sum as his national compatriot.

Meanwhile, club's Player of the Season Eden Hazard is also in line for a fresh deal which would exceed the current £200,000 weekly wages, he is paid in west London.
