Liverpool fail with transfer attempt for Mbappe

23 June 2017 - 04:59

Liverpool have reportedly had an £88m bid knocked back for AS Monaco frontman Kylian Mbappe. The 18-year-old is attracting interest from many elite clubs following a top campaign with the Principality club.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Mbappe stole the show at Stade Louis II last season as he managed 26 goals across all competitions despite making few starts in the first half of the campaign.

Spanish outlet Marca suggests that Liverpool had tried to persuade Monaco with a club-record attempt, but the French champions are holding out for a fee in excess of £100m.

Leonardo Jardim's side are not in a hurry to sell their teenager, but there is every possibility that he could leave considering the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy are leaning towards summer exits.

Mbappe has previously suggested via Canal+ that he is a boyhood Zinedine Zidane fan, and Real Madrid have tried to pursue his signature since the age of 14.

Premier League pair Arsenal and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Mbappe as they look to unearth the next big thing in world football.
