Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller is reported to have snubbed the opportunity to join Liverpool during this summer's transfer window.
The 28-year-old, who has previously been associated with Manchester United, was linked with a summer move elsewhere following his struggles to cement a regular spot under Carlo Ancelotti.
According to Bild, the World Cup winner turned down the chance to join the Reds in the summer, and this had a knock-on effect for Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho was eager to pursue a switch to Barcelona after he handing in a transfer request, but his efforts came in vain as the Reds failed to sign German attacker.
Muller had one of his toughest seasons in professional football last term as he failed to reach double figures in scoring for the first time since his breakthrough in 2009.
Despite this, he is regarded as one of the modern greats with Bayern Munich, having secured 17 trophies, including six Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.
