Ray Wilkins: Chelseas title hopes disappearing

Wilkins feels Chelsea's title prospects are fading

Ray Wilkins: Chelsea's title hopes disappearing

16 October 2017 - 17:15

Chelsea favourite Ray Wilkins believes his former club are losing their grasp on the Premier League title following a damaging 2-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The Blues struggled to have a stranglehold in last weekend's London Derby, and they could have lost by more than two goals, had Palace taken their chances in the final minutes of the game.

Wilkins, formerly an assistant and player at Chelsea, feels the Blues are losing their way in the Premier League hunt after back-to-back defeats against both Manchester City and Palace.

He told Sky Sports: "It's massively damaging for Antonio Conte. They are nine points adrift of Manchester City having played them at Stamford Bridge."

"At the moment their title chances are disappearing rather rapidly. But I feel for him because I would hate to see more defeats crop up because I think he has done a good job."

Palace had failed to register a goal or point prior to the Blues triumph, and Antonio Conte will want a strong response from the club when they take on AS Roma in the midweek Champions League game.

Both N'Golo Kante and Victor Moses look unlikely to feature until next month with hamstring injuries, but Alvaro Morata could make his comeback against the Giallorossi.
