Tottenham Hotspur could lodge a move to sign midfielder Ross Barkley from Everton during the winter transfer window. The England international is also deemed a target for Premier League champions Chelsea.
The north London giants were linked with a potential swoop for Barkley in the summer, but they ultimately pulled out of the deal due to the Toffees' £35m valuation.
Antonio Conte's Chelsea were therein favourites to pursue the playmaker after having agreed on a transfer fee, but the 23-year-old had a change of mind at the final hurdle.
According to The Mirror, Everton could re-enter talks with Spurs in the New Year with club chairman Daniel Levy keen on a bargain move for the versatile midfielder.
It is added that Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to add fresh faces at the heart of the midfield with both Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele spending extended time on the sidelines.
Barkley is expected to return to full fitness during the festive period in December, but there is little chance that he will represent Everton prior to the January transfer window.
