Mourinho, bitter after a shock 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town in the Premier League last weekend, will open his cheque book to bring in some of Europe's best players in January and intends to start with a move for Soler.

The 20-year-old, who has played over 30 times for Valencia's first team since stepping up from the reserve team squad, has been impressive since he forced his way into the club's plans. He has recently enjoyed his first taste of under-21 football.

According to reports from Spain, United will beat Real Madrid to snap up Soler in January.
