Crystal Palace midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has revealed that he had a strong vision to Chelsea in the summer after he failed to command a regular role at the heart of the Blues midfield.
The 21-year-old was frustrated with his limited action under Antonio Conte, and this eventually urged him to pursue a temporary stint with Crystal Palace, where he has impressed this season.
Despite the Eagles' lowly position, Loftus-Cheek has shown early promise with his ability to link up with his fellow forwards being a trademark of his game.
Speaking prior to his England debut versus Germany, Loftus-Cheek said that he had a 'quite strong vision' to leave the west London giants after making just six appearances in their title-winning campaign last term.
He told PA Sport: "I had a vision and it became quite strong that I wanted to go from Chelsea. I felt like I needed to play a lot, so I came in and said I wanted to go away from Chelsea and play games. So we came to an agreement.
"So for me to get to that next level I needed to play regular football. I thought it was the best decision to go from Chelsea to play and develop myself which looks like being a good thing."
Loftus-Cheek earned his maiden England call-up alongside fellow Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham earlier this month, and he is expected to feature in an advanced central midfield role when the Three Lions host world champions Germany at the Wembley Stadium tonight.
