Eden Hazard: This midfielder is the best player in the Premier League

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has reportedly named Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne as the best player in this season's Premier League.

  • The Blues attacker has watched De Bruyne playing in close quarters for the Belgian national side and believes his compatriot suits the Citizens ideally.

"I think City are the best team in the Premier League, for sure. They've shown that in the first 10, 11, 12 games of the season. Kevin is a player who is important in the system put in place by [Pep] Guardiola," he told Belgian outlet DH.

"He's able to fully express his potential. Since the start of the season, he's the best player in the league. He's also fortunate to be in a team that plays well, that exploits his qualities marvellously."

De Bruyne has been deployed in a central midfield role under Pep Guardiola this season, and he has barely had a poor game, contributing goals and assists to the Citizens cause.

Playing in the deeper role, the former Chelsea man has managed to link up with his forwards with his long-range passing, and Guardiola has recently praised the midfielder as one of the best he has worked it.

De Bruyne currently has a contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2021, but talks are already underway over an extension with the club wary of big-club interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
