Liverpool receive worrying injury update on Joe Gomez

26 March 2018 - 16:13

Liverpool could be without the services of Joe Gomez for at least a month after he picked up an ankle injury during England's international friendly against the Netherlands last week.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The 20-year-old suffered the injury just 10 minutes into his Three Lions appearance against the Dutch, and this saw him substituted to bring Leicester City's Harry Maguire onto the pitch.

Gomes has since been sent back to Liverpool to undergo further treatment, and according to ESPN, he is likely to miss at least four weeks of first-team through injury.

The former Chartlon Athletic ace has been the preferred pick for the Champions League duties this term, but his setback is expected to see him miss the double-legged quarter-final tie against Manchester City.

Despite this, Jurgen Klopp's side should have the position covered with Trent Alexander-Arnold having impressed during the course of the campaign.

Nathaniel Clyne is also expected to return to first-team action having participated in full training following his recovery from a nagging back problem.
