Chelsea are reported to have failed with a £132m offer to pursue the services of Marco Asensio from Real Madrid this summer.
The 22-year-old has been in-and-out of the starting lineup at Los Blancos this term, and he has still contributed 10 goals and a further five assists across all competitions.
According to Don Balon, the Blues have had a club-record £132m bid turned down for the Spain international, who continues to be regarded highly by Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.
Asensio has been associated with an exit from the Bernabeu at different stages of the campaign, but Perez has indicated that the attacker is part of the club's future with Gareth Bale likely to be offloaded at his expense.
The former Mallorca graduate signed a new deal with the European champions earlier in September, and this sees him contracted to the club until the summer of 2023.
