Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that the club may not spend on the forward department during the summer, having signed the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette over the past 10 months.
The Gunners celebrated their sixth victory on the trot in all competitions as they beat Southampton by a 3-2 scoreline in the Premier League, and shortly after the game, Wenger said:
"We have a good side. Overall, in some aspects of the game there is no need to buy more players at that level, because we have young strikers as well, promising strikers. But we’ll see that at the end of the season."
Danny Welbeck was adjudged the man-of-the-match after his brace on the day, but he was guilty of missing a glorious opportunity which would have handed him a first Premier League hat-trick.
Despite the positives, the defence appeared a concern once more with Shkodran Mustafi having another average day in the office, and this nearly cost the Gunners a victory.
Arsenal will now place their focus on their long trip to Moscow where they take on CSKA in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final. The Gunners have a 4-1 advantage from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.
