Arsenal interested in £35m-rated Serie A defender

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the progress of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani ahead of this summer's transfer window.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising centre-backs in the Serie A but he has struggled to claim a regular role with the Bianconeri.

As a result, his future remains uncertain beyond the summer and Calciomercato suggests that the Gunners could be prepared to revive their long-term interest in the Italian.

The north London club have found themselves exposed especially in the central defensive department this term and the position of Shkodran Mustafi, in particular, has come under question after a number of mediocre performances.

Rugani has been closely tracked by the Gunners in recent seasons and according to Calciomercato, they may have the opportunity to pursue his signature for a reported price of around £35m this summer.

Arsenal are yet to name a successor to Arsene Wenger for next season but latest reports suggest that Luis Enrique is the favourite to become the next manager with the promise of a sizeable transfer budget.
