John Terry to extend Aston Villa stay?

26 May 2018 - 08:04

Veteran defender John Terry is prepared to extend his Aston Villa contract by a further year, should they clinch promotion to the Premier League. However, the 37-year-old wants a clause on his contract which would enable him to skip the games against ex-club Chelsea.

  • According to The Telegraph, the former England international could stay with the Villains until the summer of 2018, should they beat Fulham in the Championship playoff final on Saturday.

But for this to happen, the centre-back is keen to skip the games against former employers Chelsea and manager Steve Bruce could be prepared to grant his wish.

Villa have faced a Premier League exile for the past two seasons and they now need to find a way past a talented Fulham side, if they are to return to the top-flight.

Irrespective of what happens, Villa defender Alan Hutton is scheduled to hold talks with west Midlands club over a possible extension beyond the current campaign.
