Chelsea to pursue Gonzalo Higuain in Alvaro Morata swap?

Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Juventus' Gonzalo Higuain with Alvaro Morata leaning towards a Serie A return this summer.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Morata, 25, struggled to nail down a starting spot with the Blues during the second half of the 2017/18 season and the Spaniard has since been linked with a probable exit from the club.

According to Evening Standard, the Bianconeri are willing to offload Higuain to the west Londoners this summer as they seek to lure Morata back to Turin.

However, the Serie A holders are only said to want Morata on a two-year loan with the option to buy and this is something the Capital outfit may not agree upon.

Higuain has netted 55 goals during his two-year spell under Max Allegri but the Bianconeri are prepared to move on from the player as they seek a younger replacement.

The former Napoli man has been picked in Argentina's preliminary squad for the summer World Cup unlike Morata, who has been omitted for the global tournament by Julen Lopetegui.
