West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has rejected reports that the club have come close to securing the £3.5 million permanent signing of Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes.
He told Sky Sports News: "There's no truth in that.
"There are lots of players out there that we like, but there's no truth in that newspaper article."
Barnes is considered as Derby's hottest talent and has impressed this season, whilst West Ham are persistently linked with a move for the Under-21 international.
