Leicester City and Newcastle United will go head to head in the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend. The England international attacker is believed to prefer a move back to his former club, the Toon Army, whom he left after their relegation from the Premier League three years ago.

  • Leicester City are late entrants into the transfer race for Townsend, with the Foxes ready to match Newcastle's offer of £25 million to sign the talented player.

According to multiple reports, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is hopeful that a move for Townsend can be wrapped up within the next 7 days, having already opened discussions with the Eagles regarding a transfer fee. Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is desperate to keep hold of Townsend, but has been told he needs to reduce his wage bill in order to sign new players for next season.

Leicester City are hoping to bring Andros Townsend to the club as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is almost certain to leave the club this summer.
