Crystal Palace favourites to sign Arsenal star Wilshere

Crystal Palace have been installed as the new favourites to sign England international midfielder Jack Wilshere. The long-serving Gunners' player looks likely to leave Arsenal on a free transfer this summer, having yet to successfully agree a new contract with Unai Emery's side so far this summer.

There are numerous teams closely monitoring Wilshere's situation, but it is understood that Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace are the favourites to sign the out of contract player.

Wilshere will be available on a Bosman ruling this summer and has reportedly been locked in talks with several clubs across Europe but is known to prefer to stay in England if at all possible.

Wilshere has recently expressed disappointment that he was left out of England's World Cup squad and indicated on Instagram that he would be leaving the Gunners, with a photo suggesting that it is time to turn "a new page of the book" and "begin a new chapter".

Arsenal boss Unai Emery had hoped to make a last-gasp effort to keep Wilshere at the club.
