Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed Gareth Bale to succeed under Jose Mourinho, should he make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Wales international hinted that he could leave Real Madrid following the Champions League final last month and he has since been associated with a possible move to Old Trafford.
As a result, a number of ex-United players have urged Jose Mourinho to make a move and Giggs, who is now the national team coach of Wales, fancies Bale playing for his former club.
"I'd be a happy United fan, that's for sure," he told the South China Morning Post. "I think he's a Man United player. I think the fans would love him. The fans would adore him but again, like I say, he's at a club where he's won three Champions Leagues so why would you leave?"
Over the past few weeks, Real Madrid have witnessed the surprise departure of Zinedine Zidane, who has now been replaced by Julen Lopetegui and it will be interesting to see whether Bale changes his transfer stance.
Lopetegui is said to be a fond admirer for the former Spurs man and Bale could yet be assured of the regular gametime he craves for. Bale has been with Los Blancos for the past five seasons.
