Rebic on Spurs radar

Tottenham Hotspur interested in Croatia's World Cup star

22 June 2018 - 10:22

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking into a deal for Croatian footballer Ante Rebic, who currently plys his trade for Eintracht Frankfurt.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The 24-year-old had a decent season for Frankfurt last term with six goals and two assists in 25 league outings and he has since played a key role for Croatia at the summer World Cup.

Rebic was a constant threat for Croatia during their 2-0 win over Nigeria and on Thursday, he opened the scoring in a thumping 3-0 triumph versus Argentina which sealed their progress to the knockouts.

As such, his stock has risen over the past few weeks and according to Bild, Spurs are ready to make an approach for his signature. It is added that Frankfurt will demand at least £26m for the forward with his contract only due to expire in the summer of 2021.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be keen on signing a strong back-up option for Harry Kane and Rebic may emerge as the solution to their problems, considering Son Heung-min is likely to miss the start of the season.

Son is widely expected to feature for South Korea at the Asian games later in the year and winning a gold medal would ensure that he can avoid the mandatory military service in his nation.
