Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Juventus' Daniele Rugani as they seek to make their first signing of the summer transfer window.
The Blues have shelved their transfer plans in recent weeks owing to their managerial situation but it now appears likely that Maurizio Sarri will replace Antonio Conte at the helm.
As such, they seem to have revived their long-term interest in Rugani and according to Evening Standard, they are prepared to offer a £35m sum for the centre-back, who has previously worked under Sarri at Empoli.
Nevertheless, Juventus are said to have little ambition of parting ways with the Italian, but they could be forced to do, should the defender hand in a transfer request.
Rugani managed just 23 starts in the Serie A and Champions League last term and he is seemingly eyeing a fresh club where he is assured of a starting spot entering into the prime stage of his career.
