Torres breaks records

Torres breaks records

06 March 2008 - 17:21

Liverpool striker is enjoying the fact that he broke a record that stood for more than 60 years: the first Liverpool player to score consecutive hattricks since Jackie Balmer in 1946.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • "I only learned of the record after the game and it is a big honour for me," Torres told the club's official website.

"The club has a wonderful history so to be a part of that is very special and it is something I am very proud of.

"But it is also a record for everyone at the club because it would be impossible for me to score goals if it was not for my team-mates, the manager, the coaching staff, everyone."
