  • The player is admired by City boss Pep Guardiola and he is also targeted by Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Weigl is a youth product of German club 1860 Munich, making his Bundesliga debut in February 2014.

He joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2015 and has gone on to make 113 appearances, scoring two goals.

He was quite a regular for Dortmund last season, making 25 appearances in the Bundesliga, 5 in the UEFA Champions League, and 2 in the Europa league.

With the transfer window in England closed, the Citizens are looking to bring in the German during the winter transfer window in January.

Weigl has represented Germany at Under-19, U20 and U21 level. He was also a part of Germany's Euro 2016 squad but did not play any game.

His current deal with Dortmund expires in the summer of 2021.
