Yaya Toure makes shock return to Olympiacos

03 September 2018 - 04:09

Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has made a free transfer move to his former club, Olympiacos. The Ivory Coast international played 20 times for the Greek side in 2006 and has signed a two year deal with the club, who finished third in the Greek Super League last season and are looking to improve on their disappointing campaign last time around.

  • Toure had been linked with a host of different teams around Europe and the player's agent, Dimitri Seluk, had even talked up a move to Arsenal or Chelsea.

However, after weeks of negotiations, Toure has finally agreed on a deal that will see him move to Olympiacos. The midfielder had a short stint at the club before moving to Barcelona and would later move on to Man City.

The 35-year-old had been locked in talks with several teams but ultimately opted for a move back to Greece after being offered a contract worth in excess of 120,000 euros per week at the club.

44 time Greek champions Olympiacos paraded their new signing to their fans yesterday evening.
