Leroy Sane withdraws from Germany squad

07 September 2018 - 17:23

Manchester City star Leroy Sane has reportedly withdrawn from the Germany squad to face Peru citing personal reasons for his absence.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The attacker was surprisingly left out of the country's squad for the World Cup but was reinstated for the games against France and Peru this month.

Sane only came as a late substitute in the Nations League game against Les Bleus last night and the country's federation have now confirmed that he has been excluded from the Peru friendly due to personal reasons.

‘Leroy Sane has left the team hotel in Munich in consultation with federal coach Joachim Löw on Friday for private reasons,’ a statement read on the country's Twitter account.

Sane was widely expected to feature from the start against Peru and he would undoubtedly be disappointed to miss out on a rare opportunity with the national team.

The German has also witnessed a tough introduction to Premier League football with Manchester City this term and he has yet to make a start for the reigning champions after struggling to impress in pre-season.
