Eden Hazard confirms Chelsea blocked summer exit

15 October 2018 - 11:25

Belgium international Eden Hazard has confirmed that Chelsea denied him his dream move to Real Madrid during the 2018 summer transfer window.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The 27-year-old had talked up the prospect of a fresh challenge shortly following the World Cup but nothing materialised thereafter with the Blues sticking with the attacker.

In an interview with Telefoot, Hazard has acknowledged that the Blues were responsible for blocking his summer exit but he remains happy with the decision made.

"Chelsea were clear to me, I could not leave, I accepted it. Leaving or staying, I knew I was going to be happy. I do not regret at all," he told the French publication.

He added that he may not force through an exit from Stamford Bridge in the future and would like to leave the Blues on good terms, he further said: "I will never clash with a club. If I leave Chelsea, I will leave on good terms."

Hazard presently has around 20 months left on his remaining deal with the Blues and reports have recently suggested that he may run down his contract before sealing a switch to the Bernabeu.

Elsewhere, there are claims that the European champions could revive their long-term interest next summer where Hazard could be available for a reasonable price of around £65m.
