Jose Mourinho confirms six absentees for Juventus clash including Sanchez

22 October 2018 - 21:35

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed as many as six absentees for Tuesday's Champions League clash against Juventus at Old Trafford.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The likes of Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Scott McTominay, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez were absent during the open training session earlier on Monday and speaking to MUTV, Mourinho has confirmed that the six players would not be making the squad tomorrow.

United have gone through a difficult start to the season which sees them only tenth in the Premier League standings but they have produced a better showing in Europe where they have a three-point advantage over Valencia for the second spot in their group.

Nonetheless, the Red Devils need to get some points from the upcoming double-header against the Bianconeri, if they are to avoid a tense finish in terms of securing their position in the knockout phase of the elite competition.

The game on Tuesday night will witness the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Trafford for only the second time since he left the club in the summer of 2009. His previous visit to the stadium with Real Madrid saw him find the scoresheet in a 2-1 victory.
