Hodgson: we can stay up

15 March 2008 - 00:47

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson believes that the club are more than capable of surviving the drop, despite sitting second from bottom in the Premiership with only 20 points. Fulham have had a dire season, but Hodgson insisted their time is not up just yet.

  • "There's a quarter of the season left basically - 27 points - and we've just got to hope we have a good last quarter," Hodgson insisted.

"Our work ethic and enthusiasm and energy has been very good and I don't see any sign of defeatism or lack of belief.

"I'm hoping that we will show we are a bona fide Premiership club with the mettle, the character and the quality to stay up.

"I would have liked it to have gone better in terms of results, of course, but in terms of work we've done together and the way people at the club has responded I am happy with that," he said.

"Unfortunately the first two or three results come before you've got your feet under the table.

"Statistics don't lie. We are at the bottom because we have not been winning games. We need to start, but we're not yet running out of time yet.
