Arsenal looking into move for Celtic defender

27 February 2019 - 11:54

Arsenal are understood to be planning an approach for Celtic's Kieran Tierney as they seek to find a future replacement for Nacho Monreal in their ranks.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The 21-year-old has made over 160 appearances for Celtic since making his debut five years ago and he is currently on a long-term contract with the club until the summer of 2023.

Despite this, The Sun claims that the Gunners are keeping a close eye on the Scotland international and they could make a bid worth £25m to prise him away during the summer.

Tierney, who has just returned to action following a hip injury, has been identified as a probable replacement for Nacho Monreal, whose existing deal expires in 16 months' time.

The Spaniard has dropped down the pecking order this term with Sead Kolasinac regularly featuring on the left side of the defence but Unai Emery still seems keen on another competitor in the position.

Arsenal are currently fourth in the league standings with a one-point advantage over Manchester United. They are scheduled to face Bournemouth in tonight's league clash at the Emirates Stadium.
