Barcelona have reportedly earmarked Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal as a probable summer target as they seek to strengthen their options on the left side of the defence.
The Blaugrana have been dependent on Jordi Alba for the left-back duties over the years but manager Ernesto Valverde is keen on recruiting a quality back-up, should the Spaniard require a rest or suffer an injury setback.
According to Sport, Monreal is one of the prime targets on the club's radar ahead of the summer and they are confident of luring him for a relatively bargain price when the transfer window reopens.
Monreal's contract at Arsenal was recently extended until the 2019/20 season, but reports suggest that the move was mainly done to command a decent price through his sale in the summer.
The former Malaga man has been a regular in a three-man central defence for the Gunners of late, but he is said to be open to making the switch to the Camp Nou, even if he may have to settle for a bench role.
