Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly keen on signing reported Liverpool target Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli during this summer's transfer window.
A recent report suggested that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp remains a keen admirer of the attacker and the club could make a formal approach to pursue the Italian this summer.
However, according to Corriere dello Sport, the Blues could enter the race to sign the Napoli skipper with Sarri keen on a reunion with the Italy international.
The Blues are bracing themselves for the potential sale of contract rebel Eden Hazard this summer and Insigne has been earmarked as a probable candidate to replace the Belgian.
Nonetheless, a summer deal would be dependent on whether the Blues can overcome or freeze the current transfer embargo which has been sanctioned by FIFA.
The Blues are presently not permitted to make signings for the next two transfer windows but they remain hopeful of at least suspending the ban with an appeal to FIFA or the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
