Tottenham Hotspur prepare £40m bid for ex-Chelsea defender

10 June 2019 - 17:04

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a bid in the region of £40m to secure the services of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

  • Man Utd handed major injury boost for Liverpool game
  • Chelsea set asking price for Nicolas Jackson

  • The 24-year-old parted ways with Chelsea to join the Cherries two years ago and he has since been one of their prime performers at the heart of the defence.

According to The Sun, Spurs are looking to strengthen their backline during the ongoing transfer window and Ake has been earmarked as the prime option to fulfil the same.

The Cherries had pursued Ake from the Blues for around £20m in 2017 and reports indicate that Spurs could be prepared to offer twice the figure to land his signature.

Ake was ever-present through the Premier League campaign for the Cherries last term and he contributed four goals and one assist for the club over the 38 matches.

He has previously been linked with a possible return to Stamford Bridge but that seems unlikely at the moment with the Blues under a ban for two transfer windows.
