Arsenal looking to sign Philippe Coutinho?

03 August 2019 - 16:05

Arsenal are reported to be eyeing a surprise loan move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho this summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Gunners have already added more creativity in their ranks during the transfer window with Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos (on loan) joining them from Lille and Real Madrid respectively.

Despite this, Sport claims that they are eyeing another recruit to strengthen the attack front and Coutinho has been earmarked as a potential loan option from the Spanish champions.

The same publication suggests that Gunners chief Raul Sanllehi has a close association with former side Barcelona and this could enhance the club's prospects of landing the Brazil international.

The Catalan giants are seemingly open to the sale of Coutinho this summer but reports have indicated that they may also consider a loan departure for around £27m next term.

Arsenal's main concern has been at the heart of the defence where they have yet to purchase a recruit for their immediate need and it would come as a surprise, if they are to secure the services of Coutinho.

The Gunners have signed one central defender in William Saliba from Saint-Etienne this summer, but the Frenchman has returned to the Ligue 1 side on loan for the 2019/2020 season.
