Celtic boss Lennon discuss Tierney to Arsenal transfer situation

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed that the club are still waiting to hear back from Arsenal regarding a transfer for left-sided defender Kieran Tierney, who has been linked with a move to the North London club for a fee of £24 million. The Scotsman is comfortable playing on the left or centre of defence.

  • Arsenal have had a busy period in the transfer window, signing Nicolas Pepe for a club record fee and securing a deal for Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid.

Celtic are unhappy that their valuation has yet to have been met, but Arsenal are expected to seal a deal for the defender before the transfer window slams shut.

“Obviously the window in England shuts on Thursday," said Celtic manager Lennon.

“It can be an unsettling period for any player. We have rejected two bids and the clubs know the valuation that we value Kieran [Tierney] at and it’s not been met.

“He is dealing with it very well. We are living in an age now where it’s coming at you from all angles, especially on social media.

“He is only 22. We have to be mindful of that as well. He is trying to keep his feet on the ground and stay focused on the present.”
