Real Madrid have moved a step closer to signing one of Europe's brightest young prospects in Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek. The Ajax starlet has been linked with a 60 million euro transfer to the La Liga giants and in an interview with Dutch reporters yesterday, the player confirmed that talks are ongoing.
Van de Beek played a part in Ajax's 2-2 draw against Vitesse Arnhem yesterday, with the player catching the eye in an impressive performance.
Ajax have been churning out brilliant young talent in recent seasons, with the club forced to sell their best players such as Matthijs De Ligt to Juventus and Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona. It is understood that Real Madrid are to pay a fee of around 60 million euros to secure a transfer deal for van de Beek.
"It is true that Madrid are in talks with Ajax, but I can't say any more," Van de Beek told Fox Sports following the game.
"My agent will have spoken with them. Real Madrid are a great club to play for, but Ajax are still a great club. We'll see what happens. There's more to it than what’s in the newspapers, but you don't have to believe everything that is written."
