22 August 2019 - 14:02

Germany international Antonio Rudiger is unlikely to return to the starting lineup for the forthcoming league clash against Norwich City on the road.

  • The centre-back has been stepping up his fitness after recovering from a knee injury but he may not necessarily make the first XI at Carrow Road.

In a report covered by the Blues' official website, the centre-back said that he is working on his fitness on a 'day-by-day' basis and he does not want to rush his return.

Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen have been the preferred combination at the heart of the defence under new boss Frank Lampard, and the duo have improved on their performance with every game.

The west London giants have not picked up a single victory in the opening three games across all competitions but the players will be aiming to make amends when they tackle the Canaries.

Chelsea are currently 15th on the table with just one point on the board.
