Manchester United boss confirms triple injury blow

Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that three first-team stars, who are unlikely to make their injury comebacks against Liverpool this weekend.

  • The Red Devils have been hampered with numerous injury concerns during the opening two months of the season and this has played a part in their poor start to their league campaign.

    Speaking ahead of the Liverpool game, Solskjaer said that Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard have yet to recover from their ankle and hamstring concerns respectively and they are definitely out of contention.

    "No chance [of Pogba or Lingard being fit]. Paul had an injury, he came back, he worked really hard. He came back and played a couple of games, maybe played through the pain barrier," he told Sky Sports.

    He added that David De Gea is likewise sidelined for the encounter after picking up a groin injury on international duty for Spain against Sweden earlier in the week.

    United have made their worst-ever beginning to a top-flight season in three decades and they are presently lying in the 12th position with just nine points on the board.
