Wenger will rest Adebayor

29 March 2008 - 12:20

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor looks set to miss out on the match with Bolton in the Premiership today as Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger revealed the Togo forward was 'jaded' as he has had a tough barren run of goals.

  • Bournemouth close to signing Chelsea defender?
  • Marseille table bid for Chelsea defender

  • "He did not score recently because as a team we have made less chances, and also physically he was a bit jaded because he has played in nearly every single game since the start of the season," said Wenger.

"I believe he has given a lot this year and that he would need a little breather, maybe.

"He played a lot on his own up front and has had to fight very hard. At the moment, to refresh him a bit would do him some good.

"I have [Nicklas] Bendtner there, I have [Robin] Van Persie coming back, but Adebayor is an important player in our squad."
