Manchester City will permit Mikel Arteta to leave for Arsenal

Manchester City will reportedly not block the departure of Mikel Arteta, should Arsenal approach the Spaniard for the head coach position.

  • Tottenham planning to beat Chelsea to English striker?
  • Man Utd handed injury boost ahead of Burnley game

  • The Gunners have continued to back Unai Emery for the managerial role but things could change in the coming months, should they continue to struggle under the 48-year-old's guidance.

According to The Sun, the north London side are not actively looking at the prospect of replacing Emery but Arteta remains one of the prime candidates on their shortlist to become their manager in the long run.

Arteta has been working as the assistant to Pep Guardiola since the past three years but reports indicate that the Cityzens won't block the Spaniard's exit, should the Gunners offer him with the chance to become their next manager.

Aside from Arteta, Jose Mourinho, Max Allegri and assistant manager Freddie Ljungberg are the other names being frequently mentioned in the media amid the uncertainty over Emery's long-term future at the club.
