Atletico Madrid are reportedly prepared to make an approach to sign Olivier Giroud from Chelsea when the transfer window reopens next month.
Giroud has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and he is currently behind the likes of Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi in the race for the starting spot.
As a result, the striker is said to be eyeing a mid-season departure from the Blues, considering he could lose his Euro 2020 spot with France due to the limited playing time.
According to Diario AS, Atletico are currently keeping a close eye on Giroud's situation and they are likely to make a formal offer for his services at the turn of the year.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone has the likes of Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa to lead the line but he is eyeing an alternative signing, who can enhance their fortunes in the attacking department.
The Spanish giants have netted just 16 times from 15 league appearances this term and this has hampered their progress. They are presently six points off Barcelona, who are leading the standings.
