Chelsea striker close to 'striking an agreement' with Italian giants

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is reportedly on the cusp of striking an agreement with Inter Milan ahead of the January transfer window.

  • Pep Guardiola comments on Cole Palmer's success at Chelsea

  • The 33-year-old has found first-team chances hard to come by since the start of the season and he has managed seven appearances for the Blues under Frank Lampard.

As a result, he has become increasingly frustrated with the situation and he is seemingly desperate for playing time, particularly with his Euro 2020 spot with France on the line.

According to L'Equipe, the World Cup winner is close to agreeing contract terms with the Nerazzurri, whose manager Antonio Conte wants more competition for Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez in the frontline.

The Blues have yet to open negotiations with the Nerazzurri over the transfer fee and any disagreement could delay the striker's transfer until the summer when his contract expires at the west London side.

Giroud has been an undisputed starter for France in recent years but manager Didier Deschamps has recently stated that the striker needs more gametime to cement his berth for next summer's Euro 2020 tournament.
