Barcelona and Real Madrid in the pursuit of Dutch midfielder

According to Sport, Barcelona are competing with arch-rivals Real Madrid for the transfer of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly in the pursuit of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Earlier, It was reported that the Los Blancos turned out to be the front runners for the signature of the Dutch star as they had also held talks with his agent.

Having already signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, Barca is now looking to add another talented prospect Van de Beek, who is rated around €60 million.

The 22-year-old has been a key cog for the Amsterdam outfit, racking up 24 goals and 19 assists since the 2018/19 season. Besides, he was instrumental behind Ajax's domestic double and the fairy-tale run in the Champions League last season, which in return caught the eyes of top European clubs.

Barcelona are currently leading the La Liga table and will play El Classico at Nou Camp on Wednesday.
