Chelsea have reportedly earmarked Bordeaux's Josh Maja as a potential candidate to bolster the striking department in the New Year.

  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move

  • The Blues managed to win their appeal against the transfer ban earlier this month and they are free to pursue new signings at the beginning of 2020.

According to 90min, the west London giants are weighing up a bid for Maja, who only left Championship side Sunderland for Bordeaux during the 2019 winter transfer window.

Maja has enjoyed a good campaign with the French outfit this term where he has contributed five goals and two assists in 16 league appearances - 11 of those coming off the bench.

The Blues have largely relied on Tammy Abraham for the striker's role this season with the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud struggling for form in recent months.

Maja won't be assured with a starting role at the present of point of time but he could still present competition for Abraham in the second half of the campaign and beyond.
