Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly set to block Granit Xhaka's departure from the club when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
The Swiss has already agreed personal terms with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga and his agent has confirmed that the same has been informed to the north London giants.
As a result, the midfielder has been tipped to head through the exit door next month but The Sun claims that Arteta won't entertain any player departures at the beginning of the year.
The Spanish tactician is still said to be assessing his squad following his appointment earlier in the month and he has recently spoken highly about Xhaka and Mesut Ozil, who have been linked with winter exits.
Xhaka has more than three years remaining on his existing deal with the Gunners. The Swiss was bought for £30m from Borussia Monchengladbach three years ago but Hertha are only willing to offer an initial £20m to land his signature next month.
