Tottenham hold talks with €70m-rated La Liga striker

23 January 2020 - 08:35

Tottenham have held talks with Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose, claims The Guardian.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The report also adds that the Brazilian holds a release clause worth €70m , and La Real would not allow him to leave at a cheaper price.

Jose Mourinho cites the 28-year-old as a short-term replacement for the talisman Harry Kane, who is expected to miss a string of fixtures due to a hamstring injury.

Willian Jose has been vital for Sociedad’s excellent run in La Liga this season, scoring eight goals in the process. He also scored against his former side Real Madrid in a 3-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Spurs have been lackadaisical of late without any wins in four straight games. Furthermore, the injuries have also piled up, breaking their momentum in the crucial stage of the league.

Mourinho has fielded Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min as the auxiliary strikers but was to no avail.

The North London club managed to break their win drought after the 2-1 routing of bottom dwellers Norwich City.
