Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Cedric Soares will be assessed for his knee injury ahead of tomorrow's Premier League clash against Burnley on the road.
The Portuguese was pursued from Southampton on loan prior to the transfer deadline and he has been fancied to play second fiddle to Hector Bellerin for the right-back role.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Arteta confirmed that Soares has overcome his knee concern but he is unsure whether the defender is fit enough to make the matchday squad.
“They were assessing him yesterday and we will have more results today, but he’s got a little issue. I don’t think he will be available to play [on Sunday],” he told.
Arsenal are currently 11 points behind the top four of the Premier League but they can reduce that margin to eight points with a victory over Sean Dyche's side at Turf Moor on Sunday.
