Marcus Rashford reveals his preferred playing position

20 April 2020 - 16:22

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has said that he prefers playing on the left side of the attack rather than leading the line as the main striker.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The England international has regularly featured on the left wing in the current season and he has been successful with 19 goals across all competitions.

Speaking to The United Podcast, Rashford said that he has the preference of playing on the left wing, given he can contribute more on his own rather than depending on his teammates for service.

"When you are on the left, you can create a lot more things on your own, giving that little bit more to the team," he was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"Whereas when you are playing up front, sometimes you are isolated and need someone in midfield who can find passes for 90 minutes of a game, so you can disappear in games sometimes as a number nine."

Rashford is currently enjoying his best return in a single season and he has the chance to improve his goal tally when the campaign resumes after the coronavirus shutdown.

He has been sidelined since mid-January with a stress fracture in his back but reports have confirmed that he should return to regular first-team action when the season recommences.
